Revised edition, first printing (originally published in 1968 under the title "Aaron, r.f."). Signed and inscribed by Hank Aaron in blue ink on front free endpaper: "Best wishes, Hank Aaron". Publisher's red paper-covered boards, with spine stamped in silver foil; in its original blue dust jacket, with a photo of Aaron to front panel, lettered in red, yellow and white. About fine book, with some pages toned, and pencil mark to fore edge of text block; very good unclipped dust jacket, with some edgewear to panels, light soiling to rear panel, and light toning to edges of flaps. Overall, a great copy. Famously referred to by Muhammad Ali as "the only man I idolize more than myself," Hank Aaron was one of the greatest baseball players of all time and an important advocate for racial equality. Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Aaron had stints in the Negro Leagues, playing for the Indianapolis Clowns, and the minor leagues, before joining the Milwaukee Braves in 1954. In his 21 seasons with the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, he earned an MLB record twenty-five All-Star selections, three Gold Glove awards, an NL MVP award (1957), and a World Series title (1957). In 1974, he broke Babe Ruth's long-standing record for career home runs (714), and finished his career with 755, a number that has only been surpassed by Barry Bonds. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1982 with 97.8% of the vote (second highest in league history, trailing only Ty Cobb's 98.2% in 1936). Item #HAFB002
