First edition, first printing. Signed and inscribed by Wodehouse on the front free endpaper: "All the best / P. G. Wodehouse." Publisher's quarter black cloth lettered in white, yellow, and red over purplish-black paper-covered boards with facsimile stamp of the author's signature in yellow to front board, and yellow endpapers; in the original white, yellow, and black pictorial dust jacket designed by Paul Bacon, lettered in black and purple. About fine book, with just a touch of soiling to foot of spine and rear board; very good unclipped dust jacket, with light wear to head of spine, some rubbing and soiling to panels, wear to top edge of rear panel, and a light crease to bottom corner of rear flap. Overall, a tight and square copy. The Ice in the Bedroom is a classic Wodehouse novel that is, as the dust jacket proclaims, "to be gulped, not sipped, to be taken up with glee and consumed with gusto… as quickly as the reader can get to his favorite armchair and open to page one." Set in the fictional London suburb Valley Fields, the book tells the intertwining stories of Freddie Widgeon, an office clerk with dreams of making it big and marrying Sally Foster, and Soapy and Dolly Molloy, a pair of mischievous burglars who have their eyes set on the "ice" in the bedroom - Widgeon's neighbor's jewels. The Ice in the Bedroom was first published serially in the Star Weekly, a weekend supplement of the Canadian magazine the Toronto Star.
