In this historical adventure novel, protagonist Jaspar Hume puts aside personal grievances and leads an expedition to rescue Clive Lepage, his former business partner and romantic rival, from the brutal elements of the Canadian Arctic. William Edward Bloomfield Starkweather (1876-1969) was an American painter, educator, and book illustrator who specialized in impressionist landscapes and portraits.
