Publisher's vellum-covered boards, with front board and spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, hand-made paper, and silk gold bookmark ribbons. Near fine set, with light spotting to boards, and both bookmark ribbons split. Overall, a gorgeous two-volume set. For this special edition, all of John Keats' poems are collected and arranged "as nearly as may be in the order in which they were written." Critic and curator Sidney Colvin writes in his preface, "In the case of Keats this method seems particularly desirable, since in him, of all poets, it is vitally interesting to trace the magically swift growth and incidental lapses of genius, the flow and ebb of attainment and inspiration, the sequence and variation of poetic mood and aim within the brief span of years allotted to him." John Keats (1795-1821) was one of the most renowned English Romantic poets, who, in his short lifetime, produced many magnificent poems including "When I Have Fears that I May Cease to Be," "Ode to a Nightingale," "Ode to a Grecian Urn," "Hyperion," "On First Looking into Chapman's Homer."
