About fine book, with a touch of soiling to front cover, small abrasion to front pastedown, and faint ink mark to title page; very good unclipped dust jacket, with some wear to edges and spine ends, some scratches to panels, as is common with this fragile dust jacket, and residue from removed price sticker to front flap. Overall, a striking copy of this influential vampire novel. Interview with the Vampire is Anne Rice's first and most famous novel, a classic vampire story that kicked off her acclaimed 13-book Vampire Chronicles series. In the book, a 200-year-old vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac recounts his personal history to a young unnamed reporter. In the late 1700s, Louis, grieving the death of his brother and wishing for death himself, meets a vampire named Lestat de Lioncourt who turns him into a vampire. The two live together, but in disharmony, as Louis feels guilt about killing humans, while Lestat revels in it. Later, Lestat turns a young girl, Claudia, into a vampire, and she and Louis form a close bond. Rice supposedly based the immortal Claudia on her own daughter, Michelle, who died at a young age from leukemia. In 1994, the book was adapted into a film directed by Neil Jordan and starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas, and a young Kirsten Dunst in her breakout role. More recently, the story was turned into an acclaimed TV series (2022 -) starring Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid. Item #ARC005
