Dorset, England, 1915. Near Fine.
Six autograph letters written in ink and pencil, twelve sheets in total, with five envelopes. A near fine collection with the usual creasing to the letters, envelopes with some toning. Overall, a unique and interesting collection of WWI ephemera. The letters in this group are all addressed to the same British soldier, George R. Hughes, affectionately referred to in the letters as "Georgie". A member of the 5th Battalion of the Dorset Regiment in the British Mediterranean Expeditionary Forces, Hughes was stationed in Malta for part of his service. The letters came from friends and family, including his mother, father, brother, and a friend named Aitt. Typical of wartime letters, these messages are full of updates friends and family, and well-wishes to George. While some bear a general address for the British Mediterranean Expeditionary Forces, a few envelopes are addressed to St. Andrews Hospital.
