Multi-Signed 1938 World Series Program, Yankees v. Cubs.
1938. Near Fine.
First edition. Signed by 26 members of the two teams (2 Yankees members and 24 Cubs members), including: Joe DiMaggio, Vernon "Lefty" Gomez, "Dizzy" Dean, Bill Lee, Tony Lazzeri, Billy Herman (signed twice), James K O'Dea, Phil Cavarretta, Carl Reynolds, John Corriden, Roy Johnson, Larry French, Vance Page, and "Tex" Carleton. Publisher's red, white and blue stapled and laminated wrappers, with baseball-like globe and flag design to front wrapper, Wrigley's Field design to rear wrapper, headshots of members of the two teams overlaid on blue toned photo backgrounds throughout the program, scoresheet spread in center of program. About fine with just a touch of wear, scoresheet not filled out. Overall, a bright and attractive program in rare unscored condition. This program is for either game 1 or 2 of the 1938 World Series between the Yankees and the Cubs, a series that the Yankees won by sweeping the Cubs in four games. With the win, the Yankees became the first American League team to win three straight World Series titles. The Cubs nearly won Game 2 with "Dizzy" Dean at the mound, holding a 3-2 lead for most of the game, but were defeated in part by a 2-run hit by DiMaggio in the ninth inning. Both Dean and DiMaggio signed this program, along with other players, coaches and greats who participated in the series.
