Originally published in Shakespeare's First Folio in 1623, this comedy tells the story of King Leontes, whose wife, Hermione, is pregnant with what he believes to be another man's child. After imprisoning his wife and ordering the newborn to be taken away, Leontes' other young son dies of a broken heart. Upon receiving word that his wife has also died, Leontes is stricken with guilt and remorse, and spends years mourning his family, only to be reunited with them sixteen years later.
