The Little Regiment is a collection of short stories that includes "Three Miraculous Soldiers," "A Mystery of Heroism," "An Indiana Campaign," "A Gray Sleeve," and "The Veteran" in addition to the titular "A Little Regiment." Like his acclaimed The Red Badge of Courage (1895), these stories center around the American Civil War and accurately evoke the feel of a battlefield, despite the fact that Crane himself never experienced combat.
