Once there, Snowy finds himself unable to hide because of his white fur. Upon meeting a brown bear, Woody, he has some help when it comes to blending in with his surroundings. Roger Duvoisin (1900-1980) was a Swiss-American children's author and illustrator. In 1948, he was awarded the Caldecott Medal for his illustrations in White Snow, Bright Snow by Alvin Tresselt. Snowy and Woody was his last publication before his death in 1980.
