Overall, a very good and sturdy copy. The Delicate Prey is the first American edition of Bowles' first collection of short stories, published only a year after the success of his debut novel The Sheltering Sky. Specifically, it includes "Call at Corazón," "At Pasa Rojo," "The Circular Valley," "The Fourth Day Out from Santa Cruise," and "A Distant Episode," among others. Notably, the first English edition precedes the American edition by three months; published by John Lehmann under the title A Little Stone, the first English edition did not include two stories from this volume, "Pages from a Cold Point" and "The Delicate Prey," which were censored due to their controversial subject matter.
