First edition, first printing. Signed by Mickey Mantle and Johnny Blanchard during their playing days on the front wrapper. Publisher's red, white, blue, and black wrappers, with a Yankee Stadium graphic to front wrapper. Very good, with somewhat faded signatures, light edgewear to wrappers, a mark to the right edge of title page, and a touch of creasing to pages. A scarce early Mantle signature. One of the most iconic New York Yankees of all time, Mickey Mantle (1931-1995) won three MVP awards (1956, 1957, 1962), the Triple Crown in 1956, and helped power the Yankees to seven World Series titles. He hit 54 home runs in 1961, battling back and forth with his teammate Roger Maris for most of the year (Maris ended the season with 61 home runs, breaking Babe Ruth's single season record). Mantle was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1974 and was selected for the prestigious All-Century Team in 1999. Johnny Blanchard (1933-2009) was a catcher for the Yankees, who appeared in five World Series' with the team, winning two (1961, 1962). He is best remembered for his performance in the 1961 World Series against the Reds, which saw him batting .400 for the entire series and notching two home runs. Item #MMAN029
