Signed Photograph of Mickey Mantle, 1951 Season.
Hard Cover. 1951. Fine / Dust Jacket Included.
8" x 10" color photo. Signed and dated "1951" by Mantle in green marker. Color photo of Mantle in a batting stance. Fine, with some fading to signature and inscription, Beckett authentication sticker to bottom right corner. Overall, a great signed photo, from Mantle's rookie season. In Mickey Mantle's rookie season with the New York Yankees, he was sent down to the minor leagues for a while and sustained a torn ACL in the World Series after running into Joe DiMaggio in the outfield. He would go on, however, to have one of the greatest careers in MLB history, playing 18 years with the Yankees, winning 7 World Series titles, earning 20 All-Star selections, and three AL MVP Awards. His best season was 1956, when he won the triple crown (batting .353, 52 home runs and 130 RBIs) and the American League MVP and led the Yankees to a World Series championship over the Brooklyn Dodgers, which included assisting Don Larsen to pitch a perfect game 5. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1974 and earned a spot on the Major League All-Century Team in 1999.
