Overall, a sturdy and attractive copy of Montgomery's sequel to Anne of Green Gables (1908). Anne of Avonlea takes place just after the conclusion of Anne of Green Gables and follows Anne Shirley through the next phase of her life - from age 16 to 18. In this volume, Anne teaches at the Avonlea school, helps her guardian Marilla raise Davy and Dora - twins that Marilla takes in after their mother dies, and organizes A.V.I.S. (Avonlea Village Improvement Society). At the end of the novel, Anne and her friend Gilbert make plans to attend Redmond College. The first of a number of sequels to Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea was published just one year after Anne of Green Gables. Item #LMM007
