Original Wraps. 1963. First Edition. Very Good.

First edition. Signed on front and rear wrappers by ten MLB members including Sandy Koufax, Walter Alston, and Don Drysdale. Publisher’s original red, white and blue wrappers with humorous illustration of Dodgers players reaching for pennant flag to front wrapper, Union Oil advertisement to rear wrapper. Very good or better with light toning to edges, a few tiny nicks to edges, scoresheet filled out neatly in blue pen (likely modern), and “24,196” written neatly and minutely on last page. Overall, an attractive and unfaded copy. Included are two Dodgers tickets, one for an August 31, 1963 game between the Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants, and the other for “Game 2,” presumably an August 21, 1963 clash between the Dodgers and the Cardinals. Both in fine condition, with game score written neatly in black pen to rear of “Game 2” ticket. This official score card program is for a 1963 game between the Dodgers and Reds, which the Reds won 3-1. The Dodgers, however, would have the last laugh, as they would go on to win the World Series that year, sweeping the star-studded Yankees. Among other players, this copy is signed by Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale, two Hall of Fame pitchers who played an enormous role in the team’s success that year. In 1963, Koufax had a banner year, winning a Cy Young Award, National League MVP, and World Series MVP. Walt Alston managed the Dodgers from 1954 to 1976, guiding the team to National League pennants and four World Series titles. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983. Item #LADGS001
