Publisher's pictorial wrappers, front wrapper with illustration of the Green Girl, with front wrapper lettered in yellow, red and white, and all edges stained red. Very good, with some dampstaining to rear wrapper, light black spots to rear wrapper and last few pages, and light wear to spine and top right corner of front wrapper. Overall, a bright and sturdy copy of this science fiction classic. The Green Girl is the first solo book appearance by prolific science fiction writer, Jack Williamson. Set in 1999, a cosmic phenomenon causes the earth's sun to be completely blotted out. The protagonist, Melvin Dane, who has long harbored romantic dreams of a "beautiful green-skinned girl" named Xenora, and his guardian, Dr. Samuel Walden, are tasked with saving the world. Jack Williamson (1908 - 2006), whose writing career spanned seven decades, was named Grand Master of Science Fiction by the Science Fiction Writers of America in 1974 and won the coveted Hugo and Nebula Awards in 2001 for his novella The Ultimate Earth (2000) at the age of 93.
