First edition, first printing. Publisher's turquoise cloth-backed blue paper covered boards, lettered in gilt and silver. About fine with a touch of fading to the board edges, previous owner's name to front endpaper; in an unclipped dust jacket with a small chip to the lower front panel, some light wear, and a few minor chips to the upper spine. Rabbit, Run is Updike's second novel and the first volume of his Rabbit series. Specifically, it begins the story of Harry "Rabbit" Angstrom, who is already, as David Boroff writes in his New York Times Review, "an urban cipher… trapped by a wife, baby, and uncongenial job" at the young age of twenty-six. Together, the Rabbit series was noted by The New York Times as one of the best works of fiction in the past few decades. the first volume in his Rabbit series, which was published as one volume in 1995 under the title Rabbit Angstrom: A Tetralogy.
