Hard Cover. New York: Random House, 1972. First Edition. Very Good / Dust Jacket Included.
First edition. Publisher's quarter black cloth stamped in metallic blue, with yellow paper covered boards stamped in darker yellow with Hal Seigal's illustration; in the original pictorial dust jacket designed by Seigal. A very good copy, lightly soiled and with some sunning to top edge, foxing to text block edges, otherwise tight and clean; in a very good dust jacket with some wear to extremities and evidence of water staining to bottom edge. Overall, a bright and presentable copy. Irving's second published novel, The Water-Method Man follows the adventures of a graduate student with commitment issues and problems with his urinary tract that he addresses with the doctor-recommended "Water Method". Interestingly, Irving's work did not start to gain popularity until the publication of his later novel, The World According to Garp (1978), which he sent to a different publisher who promised him more marketing efforts.
