Finely bound in three-quarter dark blue morocco and blue and white marbled paper, four raised bands to spines with compartments lettered and decorated in gilt, top edges gilt, blue and white endpapers, each volume with a hand-colored frontispiece. A very good or better set with some wear to extremities and a few scuffs to boards, spines very lightly toned, a touch of loss to the leather at the corners, offsetting to endpapers, else a clean interior. Comprising five volumes of a 20-volume set produced in a limited issue of 500 copies by the Grolier Society in London. Named after the Grolier Club and dedicated to producing finely made editions of classic literature, the Grolier Society was a subset of Grolier Publishers, most famous for their encyclopedias. This set of books contains accounts by various persons involved in the courts described in their respective volumes, taken from letters and other documents. Item #GRC001
