Signed by the author and 13 Detroit Tigers, including Hal Newhouser (HOF), Charlie Gehringer (HOF), George Kell (HOF), Harry Heilmann (HOF), Virgil Trucks, and Billy Rogell. With a JSA Letter of Authenticity (LOA) laid in. Publisher's brick-red cloth, with spine stamped in yellow; in its original black and gray dust jacket, with baseball patterned front panel and spine, lettered in red. Very good book, with a hint of staining to front board, rubbing to spine ends and corners, and light offsetting to endpapers; very good unclipped dust jacket, with minimal rubbing to front panel, lightly chipped spine ends, and some edgewear including a moderately-sized closed tear to front panel and a small closed tear to rear panel. Overall, an excellent array of Tigers signatures. This book traces the history of the Detroit Tigers, from 1894 to the time of publication (1946). The team has boasted many notable players over the years, including Hank Greenberg, Hal Newhouser, Miguel Cabrera, Mickey Cochrane, and, most famously, the great Ty Cobb. Hal Newhouser was a 7x All Star, and the first pitcher to win MVP in two straight seasons (1944, 1945), securing the Triple Crown in 1945 (he fell just short of winning MVP for a third straight season in 1946, losing out to Ted Williams). He was inducted into the National Hall of Fame in 1992. Charlie Gehringer played all 19 seasons of his career with the Detroit Tigers (1924-1942), earning 6 All-Star selections and winning a World Series in 1935. A quiet player, Mickey Cochrane once said of him, "He says hello on opening day, goodbye on closing day, and in between, he hits .350."
