Hard Cover. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1949. First Edition. Very Good / Dust Jacket Included.
First edition, first printing. Publisher's tan cloth, lettered in red to front board and spine; in the original pictorial dust jacket illustrated with a bird's eye view photograph of New York City. A very good copy with some toning to spine and wear to spine ends, light toning to page edges; in a good dust jacket, price clipped and with toning and wear to extremities including some chips to top edge, four inch split to the top of the front fold, small hole and about three inches of loss to the spine panel. Overall, a nice copy of an exceedingly scarce book in the jacket. Here is New York is a descriptive essay about the city of New York. As the dust jacket states, "In Here is New York you roam with [White] through the concrete jungle that is the city - from the plushiest offices high above the streets to the crummiest slums only a few blocks away." Through his writing, White expresses a clear love for the city, and warns of the forces that could eventually destroy it in the future.
