Finely bound by Brentano's in three-quarter contemporary-style dark blue morocco ruled in gilt and light blue cloth, five raised bands to spine, stamped in gilt to spine, pale gray endpapers, top edges gilt. A near fine copy, spine faded to brown and with very light wear to hinges. First published in 1808, Adventures of Ulysses is Charles Lamb's retelling of Homer's Odyssey for children. Though known primarily for his essays, Lamb was also a respected children's author. Notably, this work was reported as the inspiration for Ulysses (1922) by James Joyce, who was first introduced to the story of the Odyssey in Lamb's retelling.
