Finely bound by Brentano's in three-quarter contemporary-style dark blue morocco ruled in gilt and light blue cloth, five raised bands to spine, stamped in gilt to spine, pale gray endpapers, top edge gilt. A very good copy, with fading and a touch of wear to extremities. Tales from Shakespeare is a collection of fourteen of Shakespeare's comedies and six of his tragedies retold in prose format with the intention of simplifying the stories to be understood by children. The book includes works like "The Tempest," "Othello," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and "As You Like It," among others. Of the works included, the tragedies were written by Charles Lamb, and the comedies by his sister, Mary Lamb.
