A Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Conrad Aiken (1889-1973) was known for his complex and structured verse, often touching on themes of human behavior and psychology. In this publication, Aiken's verse is accompanied by illustrations by American artist Leonard Baskin (1922-2000), known for his melancholic and often grotesque depictions of human and animal forms through woodcut and sculpture.
