Hard Cover. London: Chapman and Hall, 1862. First Edition. Very Good.
With Illustrations by J. E. Millais. First edition. Two volumes. Original publisher's maroon cloth. Both volumes were published almost 10 months apart, which further adds to this title's complex and rather questionable (Sadleir) issue points. Volume I is the horizontal grain pattern cloth and the text appears to be mostly fourth issue; volume II is the vertical grain pattern cloth and appears to correspond to Sadleir's earlier issue. A very good set; some wear and rubbing to extremities, spines show some fading, each volume neatly recased with repairs evident mostly to spine ends.
