Blood Canticle is the tenth installation in Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series and was originally intended to complete the saga. The book continues the crossover with characters from Rice's The Mayfair Witches series begun in Merrick (2000) and continued in Blackwood Farm (2002), with Lestat falling for the married Rowan Mayfair. Blood Canticle was met with an outpour of negative Amazon reviews from fans, who attacked her writing abilities and her mental state following the 2002 death of her husband, Stan Rice. Anne Rice responded with a 1,200-word defense of her novel, stating, "You have used the site as if it were a public urinal to publish falsehood and lies." Item #ARC019
