Published nine years after Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat is the second installation in Anne Rice's 13-book series, The Vampire Chronicles. The sequel takes Lestat de Lioncourt's point of view, who read Louis de Pointe du Lac's story (Interview with the Vampire) and decided to seek notoriety of his own, both by publishing an autobiography and by joining a rock band called "The Vampire Lestat." In the autobiography, Lestat reveals his own vampire origins and his past leading up to his companionship with Louis. In 1990 and 1991, The Vampire Lestat was adapted into a 12-part comic miniseries by Innovation Comics and was turned into a graphic novel later the same year by Ballantine. Lestat was also paired with the third novel in The Vampire Chronicles and loosely adapted into Michael Rymer's 2002 film The Queen of the Damned, but Rice and many fans of the series dismissed the film as a mutilation of her work. More recently, the story was turned into an acclaimed TV series (2022 -) starring Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid. Item #ARC009
