Price: $300.00

Photograph. 1934.

9" x 7" Type 1 black and white photo. Team photo of the 1934 Detroit Tigers after winning the pennant, featuring future Hall of Famers Hank Greenberg, Mickey Cochrane, Charlie Gehringer, and "Goose" Goslin. Light crease to top left corner, else fine. Overall, an excellent photo. The 1934 Detroit Tigers won the AL pennant, but fell just short of winning a World Series title, losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in a seven-game series. The next year, the Tigers made it back to the World Series and won in six games against the Chicago Cubs. Hank Greenberg played the first twelve of his thirteen seasons in the MLB with the Tigers (1930, 1933-41, 1945-46). During his time in the league, Greenberg was the AL home run leader four times and won the AL Most Valuable Player Award twice (1935, 1940). Charlie Gehringer, Mickey Cochrane, and "Goose" Goslin were all-time great players as well, with The Sporting News ranking them 46th, 65th, and 89th respectively on its 1999 list of the 100 greatest baseball players.
