Very Good.The eighth edition of Chaucer's Works, the third edition edited by Thomas Speght, who produced the sixth edition in 1598, the last edition to be set in Gothic type, with engraved frontispiece "Progeny of Chaucer." Folio, finely bound by Riviere in full deep turquoise calf, blue marbled endpapers and pastedowns, 6 raised bands, gilt and black frames to covers with gilt devices at corners, spine gilt, gilt turn-ins, edges gilt. Minor rubbing to edges, front hinge cracked and holding. Internally very clean, only a few leaves toned, otherwise bright and fresh.
