The Haast in South Westland is a historical survey of New Zealand's Haast region that specifically focuses on the development of the main pass from a "pack-track" to a national highway. Notably, Pascoe was a legal officer for the Department of Internal Affairs as well as the Chief Archivist of New Zealand, and he drew on government environmental resources and records to create this text. Additionally, Pascoe was a writer and outdoor enthusiast and made several significant climbs in New Zealand and wrote his own books on mountaineering. Item #WGL008
